Mindfulness provides moments of calm in the whirlwind of life

With practice, we can bring that calm into more and more of what we do

What?

Mindfulness trains our attention and improves our wellbeing. But Mindfulness alone is not enough. To sustain the mental and wellbeing gains we make through Mindfulness practice we also need a new perspective on how our minds work. The Now Project provides this powerful combination of real understanding and practical mindfulness training.

Why?

What we pay attention to defines who we are and how, or whether, we succeed. By understanding how our minds work, and learning to control our attention, we can make improvements in real time. Productivity starts with our mind and our attention.

How?

The Now Project provides seminars and training sessions for those who want to harness the power of mindfulness to improve their productivity, mental clarity and emotional control.

The Now Project's seminars and training programmes are for all businesses and organisations, public or private sector. I also work with individuals and not-for-profit and community groups.

Our study shows that mindfulness training and sustained practice produces statistically significant improvements in three capacities that are important for successful leadership in the 21st century: resilience, the capacity for collaboration, and the ability to lead in complex conditions

Business & Organisations

In my career as a lawyer I had the privilege of working with a diverse range of organisations and businesses. For much of that time wellbeing was not at the forefront of business philosophy. Things have changed and it is now recognised that when people are mentally and emotionally well, and when they feel supported in the workplace, they perform well.

Technical training can upskill and educate people but it rarely addresses the mindset we bring to our work. Resilience; unconscious bias; creativity; these come from mindset. The training provided by The Now Project shows us how to improve our mindset so we can be less reactive and stressed and more motivated and productive. It helps us how to get out of our own way to live up to our potential.

While the link between attention and excellence remains hidden most of the time, it ripples through almost everything we seek to accomplish
- Daniel Goleman

Private Sessions

Private sessions are more intensive and meet the specific needs of individuals . This helps them to make faster progress and to integrate an effective mindfulness practice in a way that works for them.

Individual sessions can take place in the workplace or at an outside venue.

Stress finds you. You have to go looking for relaxation

Community Groups

I also offer mindfulness seminars and training programmes to community groups and not-for-profit organisations. The front line is a stressful place to be and I am pleased to be able to give back in this way.

The workplace is full of unexpected stumbling blocks that can get in the way of productivity. To a mindful manager or employee, these become building blocks

About Me

I am Geoff Mercer, principal of The Now Project. My professional life has traversed the spectrum of how our minds can work, from the highly rational to the completely intuitive.

For thirty years I was a lawyer and for twenty five of those years I also studied the contemplative arts, working with mindfulness and other contemplative techniques. I have personally seen and experienced the benefits of incorporting mindfulness into my life and work.

The Now Project draws on my training, life experiences and my work in the commercial world. I believe we can all prosper through our work, not just financially but also emotionally and mentally, with the result that we live happier and more productive and fulfilled lives.
